At the top of this chaotic intellectual and cultural scene are the theories, analyzes and studies that work on the issues of extremism and terrorism, and the related issues such as tolerance, pluralism, citizenship and identity. For this reason, the Mada Center decided to launch a research plan within the next year that aims to address issues related to terrorism and extremism, through multiple knowledge entries, such as religious, sociological, anthropological, philosophical, political and historical studies.
The aim of these studies is to deconstruct these phenomena, uncover their causes, the dynamics of their power and their prevalence in the structure of society, and their relationship to the values and morals acquired from social upbringing, whether in the educational curricula or the official or kinetic mainstream religious discourse, or cultural discourse in general, and the effects of globalization, modernity and beyond modernity, media and social media ... etc.
The research plan also aims, through its questions, to uncover other external driving factors that constitute fertile soil for the spread of these phenomena; such as the failure of development plans, western political engagement and its interventions in the Arab region, the conflicts and wars that destroy our societies, and the stakes of direct military or political domination, or those that come to us under the slogans of modernity, globalization and democratization of societies, and its non-neutral and biased philosophical backgrounds, as well as the politicized theoretical shorthand, intended or unintended, that fails to understand our societies, and inhibits in its depth the forms of cultural and social pluralism and diversity.
